Building a Stronger Identity.
Evangelical Free Church of Chico approached Enviropop while partnering with Visioneering Studios on a larger Design+Build project. At the same time, the church was experiencing a transition in leadership and saw an opportunity to refresh its visual identity. With new signage and campus improvements already being planned, they needed an updated brand that could be integrated throughout the project and better reflect the church's future.
To establish a clear creative direction, our team facilitated a discovery workshop with church leadership. Through those conversations, we uncovered the themes, values, and characteristics they wanted the new identity to communicate. The church was looking for a logo that felt modern, simple, and meaningful. Something that represented both their congregation and the surrounding community without feeling overly complicated or trendy.
Using the information gathered during the workshop, I developed three distinct logo concepts that reflected the church's goals, values, and vision for the future. The concepts below showcase the directions I presented to leadership during the identity development process.
Applying the Identity Across Campus.
The EFCC team selected the first concept because of its flexibility and the opportunities it created beyond just a logo. The mark could stand on its own, but it also provided a visual framework that could be used to communicate larger ideas, including themes tied to the Gospel and the church's mission. It was easy to envision how the identity could grow with the church and extend into future communications, messaging, and campus experiences.
Once the direction was approved, I refined the logo system, created a set of brand guidelines, and developed standards for logo usage, color, and typography. I then partnered with our signage team to apply the new identity throughout the campus, creating custom signage that helped bring the refreshed brand to life in the physical environment.
